Hey Erik. Great post. There's a lot of info on flipping websites at www.flippingwebestate.com. Maybe you'd like to join the panel of contributors in the highly lucrative field of buying and selling websites for quick profits. As they say, there's no better way to learn about a subject than to write about it :-). (My posts are under the name 'whitewolfdesign'.) Great blog! Cheers, Cole

I've found most of flippable websites on DP, however I've found a few on the small lesser known forums. You just have to search for the deals.

I've been looking into this recently. A friend of mine recently put down 28000 for a website. He has increased revenue enough to make it worth at least 35000. I bought in for 3500 (10% of what he values it at). It looks like that is about 21 months revenue. If we don't increase the revenue any more, I'll make my money back from revenue in less than 2 years and still have all the equity left in the web site. It's a lot less risky than investing in stocks.

I wonder if the bigger bets are where the money is?

Interesting concept, Erik. I've never actually looked at the SitePoint Marketplace before you posted this (although I have heard of it), and it looks like a spectacular resource. I'm thinking I might have to try flipping a website myself since my background is mostly in Web development. I'm always interested in seeing how others code compared to me too, since I feel that it's a good way to learn something new. Thanks for sharing!
