Getting Started with ClickBank

Entrepreneur Apr 13th, 2007 No comments

I spent a few hours yesterday going over ClickBanks website and various posts and blogs discussing ClickBank marketing. What did I get from it? Well I got a lot actually…it’s prompted me to give being a ClickBank affiliate a try. I thought I would share some of what I’ve learned so far with everyone else.

For those of you that don’t know ClickBank is a popular affiliate program. It provides publishers with a place to sell electronic media such as e-books and downloads to the public while simultaneously allowing internet marketers to become affiliates for the products. They allow you as an affiliate to “pre-sell” the items to people through your own website and then send the person to the actual product. The best part is they offer 50-75% commission rates.

I would encourage you all to signup for a ClickBank account as it’s free and lets you browse their expansive marketplace. Inside the marketplace you will find all the programs which you can become an affiliate for. They also show you a number of statistics about each program.

  • $/sale – This is the actual amount you will get from each sale that you produce through the program. A relatively low number indicates that there is little to be earned and/or has a high refund or charge back rate.
  • %/sale – This represents the percentage of the sale that you are getting. It’s basically the amount you are getting per sale divided by actual cost of the product times 100.
  • %refd – This is the percentage of sales that were done by affiliates. In many cases the higher the percentage the more competition there will be.
  • grav – This stands for Gravity and is the number of affiliates who have earned a commission through this product. Generally you will find that the higher the gravity the more competition for the products.

Take a look through the marketplace and see if you find any products that look exciting to you. Chances are if you are willing to buy it than others will too. That’s one of the keys to picking a successful product. In my next posts I will discuss how to choose a product in further detail and how to begin marketing the product.

Good luck!
