June - Month in Review

Reaching GoalsJune is finally over and it was a great month in terms of growth and productivity for my blog. I was able to increase traffic, comments and rss readers numbers while continuing to work on a number of different projects.

Earlier last month I made a June Goals post outlining my major goals for June and although I didn’t complete them all, I’ve made great steps towards them. I’ll break everything down below:

RSS Readership
My goal for June in terms of RSS readership was to increase my readership to 50. At the start of June my numbers were hovering right around 22. Right now I am at an all time high of 37 RSS readers and although this is not my goal of 50, it’s a step in the right direction and shows that I’ve been doing something right.

Traffic
As I stated above, I was able to increase traffic on my blog by doing a number of things. My final June numbers came out to 1240 unique visitors which is an increase of almost 400% from May. A few things that I did to increase traffic were commenting on similar interest blogs, submitting posts to StumbleUpon and cross linking within my own blog.

Earnings
My overall earnings for June came out to $550.24 which is definitely my best month yet in terms of internet revenue. A majority of the revenue came from completing projects on Rent-A-Coder which is not my ideal source for money because it’s an active source of income, however it is a simple yet effective means for me to earn additional revenue. I also played around with several advertising programs for my current websites and wasn’t able to increase revenue that much over my current sites.

Projects
One of my other goals for June was to create 3 additional websites. Once again I fell a bit short creating 1 new website. However, I am also in the process of programming and designing 2 new projects which I think have real potential to be money makers. For both of these projects I am utilizing the CakePHP framework which I’ve found to make my coding more efficient and stable. I’m hoping to have at least 1 of these projects completed for the end of July.

Vacation
My last goal for June was to go on a vacation. While I didn’t have the time to go on one in June, I was able to plan one for the end of July. I will be going camping up in Maine for a 4 day weekend, camping right on the ocean at Cobscook Bay State Park. It’s something to really look forward to for me at the end of July.

Look for a post tomorrow outlining my goals for July!

550 is quite a lot. Your coding skill must be good, you better find more high-paying project though, or working full time :)

Way to go on the month! You’re right to say that moving even closer to your final goals is the important part. I think I may have failed in having firm goals so it’s probably time to get them on paper!

Good to see you can earn online income. Eventhough it’s a small compared to what John Chow have earn, but it still cool to see things come in.
