I was actually surprised to find recently that I left one of my blogs alone for a month and when I came back I had the same amount of traffic from google. Nothing seemed to change at all, if anything my overall traffic and various rankings went up. I've given up trying to over analyze Google and just stick to the basics. It's going to do what it's going to do. Google is a crazed random mistress at times. I don't look forward to my rankings going up and down over time, but I guess I have to get started.
