Working Hard Doesn’t Necessarily Mean Working Long Hours
Ask anyone what makes a successful entrepreneur and one of the qualities they list will most likely be hard working. It’s a general perception that hard work equals a successful venture and I have to agree with that. However does hard work mean working long hours?
Although every entrepreneur will find themselves working long hours at one time or another, it doesn’t mean that’s the way it has to be every day. Personally I feel that time is not an adequate measure of hard work. The true measure of hard work is understanding that you have worked to the best of your ability to complete your goals.
Not everyone is cut out for working an 18 hour day; I know that I’m not. And at some point you need to realize how long you can work for and when your time stops being productive. All aspects of life demand hard work, but constantly burning the midnight oil is often ineffective.
The key to being effective is being focused and passionate about your business. There are certainly times when a 15 to 18 hour day is needed to get things done and being passionate about your business will only make those days easier and more productive.
You need to be prepared to work hard, focus on the tasks at hand, and reach goals to be successful. Sometimes this will mean working a long day, sometimes it won’t. Have the desire to win no matter what and do whatever it takes to succeed and you will.

I agree. I often find myself working 16 or 18 hour days but I think if I got a full night’s rest every night and spent half of that time working very efficiently I might get more done.

Not as easy for someone who has a full time day job and then working on internet ventures at night like myself.. but then all work and no play makes jack a… well you know… so yes i save a couple of hours for leisure and rest

I agree it’s hard work going to school for 6 hours a day, doing 1-2 hours of homework then working on my blog, and working on my new ecommerce store. I find it really exhausting. Sleep=good lol.
